Only a few days left!

  • Mood: silly

Can you believe it... Rockin' For KPM is just about here already!?!  By this time I usually have pretty much everything done, except for the cooking.  Not true this year but I'll get it all done.... LOL.

It's going to be a great day!  We have a wonderful face painter joining us this year and I think she'll have a fantastic time.  I'm hoping both kids and adults will have some painting done ... I know I will.. lol.  The Lowell Sun has put a notice about the benefit in two different sections of the newspaper and they included a link to this web site, so I hope to see a whole bunch of new faces this year!

I've got to go for now .... I'm heading off to the kitchen to try a very yummy sounding recipe that a co-worker gave to me.  If it tastes as good as it sounds it will be on the food table at the benefit!

Have a great day everyone!

Band update!

  • Mood: hazy, hot, and humid.. ick

We have some bad news and some good news regarding the band line-up.

First the bad news:  The wonderful band Shuvelhed, who was to take the stage in their 7:30pm time slot, will not be appearing at the benefit this year.  They have chosen to take different paths in their lives and those of us that know them wish everyone Good Luck with all they do in the future!

Now the good news:  After much thought, and many discussions back & forth with Tom, another wonderful band has been chosen to fill the open time slot.  The band Big Trouble has decided to join Rockin' For KPM!  It is their first time playing at the benefit and I think they will have a wonderful time!

Take care and I'll catch up with y'all later -

We have a face painter coming to the benefit!

  • Mood: happy!

Yesssirreeee.. a face painter will be at Rockin' For KPM!  After much discussion with Tom I was able to get a wonderful young lady to be there so that the younger (or maybe even some older...) KPM'ers would have a different kind of fun this year.

Erin Savage is the owner of Body Art by Erin and you can see some great things on her web site: http://www.bodyartbyerin.com/.  She has many blogs about several local events she has worked at and also has many different pictures of her face painting.  Check them out!

She will be at the benefit for two hours, from 3 - 5pm.  I think she will be a wonderful addition to Rockin' For KPM this year!

Take care ...

A couple of band changes / Band line up & times posted

  • Mood: super!

We've had another change in the band listing.  Those 3 Guys will not be participating this year as originally thought.  However, Lunatic Fringe has been added to fill the spot.  Lunatic Fringe is no stranger to the KPM benefit as they had been in the band listing in the past.

In case you hadn't noticed Tom Reid has completed the band line up, along with the times they are playing.  You can find that information on the Band Info page.

That's about it for now ... catch up with y'all later!

Change in band line-up

  • Mood: bummed

It is with a heavy heart that I have to let you all know that the band Decadence will not be joining us for the benefit this year.  Decadence has been a part of Rockin' For KPM since it began in 2007 and they will be greatly missed.

Another wonderful band, Last Laugh, will be filling their spot in the line-up.  Last Laugh was part of KPM 2008 and I am sure they will do another amazing job!

Should there be any other changes made to the band list I will let you know ...

Lets talk ..... Food!

  • Mood: happy!

Food for the benefit - my favorite subject!  Not so much the eating part but the planning & cooking part of it... lol.  It's no secret that I lovvvvvvve to cook for lots of people.  I enjoy it greatly and it is probably the one part of getting things ready for the KPM benefit that I look forward to the most.

For the past couple of months I've been going through all of my cookbooks and magazines I've purchased that had recipes.  Instead of having the same things that I usually make I thought I'd add a couple of different items... you know... switch it up a bit.  I'd hate for folks to look at the food tables and think "uggghhh.. same 'old stuff again".  Variety is good!  I'm not going to post just yet what food I'll be making because I haven't got it all "set in stone" at the moment (I keep changing my mind), but there are definitely two items I'm keeping on my list!  Well, three if you count the potato salad... hahahaha.

Oh.. the snacks!  Those will be changed up a bit too so there won't be just chips, chocolate, and fruit roll-up things.  There isn't anything wrong with those (they are actually quite yummy) but I'm just going to add some other things to it so there is more of a selection for the lil KPM'ers.  The big KPM'ers might like them too!

I believe Tom Reid has once again managed to get the "Meat Man" to join us at the benefit.  If you were there last year you got to see all of the wonderful cuts of meat he had cooked up for us.  He was kind enough to bring in meat for 400 people, which I think was quite a wonderful thing for him to do.  So in addition to what I am making, what the club may offer, and the meat it should be a very filling day.

Well, I think that's it for now.  When I have a better idea of what I'll be bringing to the benefit I'll post it here.  Or maybe I'll just keep it a secret... LOL!

Ohhhh.. before I forget.  If anyone has any type of food allergies please let me know!  I don't want to put anything on the food tables that will cause any type of allergic reactions.  You can email me here:  rockin_for_kpm@yahoo.com if anyone in your family that is going cannot have any certain foods.  Thanks!

Take care and have a great day!

A mini update!

  • Mood: good

I received a phone call from Tom Reid tonight with a small update on Kyle and Patrick.  He spoke with their dad Ray and was told the guys have been doing good & are looking forward to the benefit.  Soon Ray or Lisa will be in touch with me to let me know about any updated photos of Kyle and Patrick so hopefully I'll have something new to add to the site!

Take care and catch up with you later!

Devil Dawg!

  • Mood: Pretty good!

Devil Dawg is once again going to join us at the benefit and I'm very happy about that!  Everyone had a great time with him last year ... he's so full of energy & very funny!  A couple of members of the Lowell Devils Hockey Street Team will also be with him.  There may be a chance that a Lowell Devils Ice Girl or two might be able to attend too, but I won't know if that is definite until a bit later on.

Thank you very much Lowell Devils Hockey for all that you do for the community!

See ya!  Diane

Welcome to the Rockin' For KPM web site!

  • Mood: excited

Wow .. can you believe it?  According to the countdown clock on the main page, KPM 2009 is only a few months away!  The months have gone by pretty quick since last year's benefit .. lol.

Anyway ... welcome to the KPM website!

I put this site together for two reasons - reason #1 being so people could have a secondary place to get information about the benefit.  I've come to realize more and more people use the internet to keep in touch with family & friends, and it is my hope that folks who may be attending this years benefit will use this forum to do just that.  I used the words "secondary place" because while Tom does post all KPM information at LowellRocks.com, I thought it might be easier for those of you who are not familiar with LowellRocks to come to a site that was dedicated solely to Kyle, Patrick, and the benefit.  Reason #2 for the site is because I am sending out donation request letters to some businesses and for a couple of them one of their requirements was a web site.  When I read that I figured if it's going to get raffle items for the benefit I was going to do it!

Well, I think that's it for now ... I'll be back to post more things about the benefit a little later!

Diane
